Manchester City’s number two leaves to fill the void left by Patrick Vieira

Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola trusted number two has left his role to join New York City following Patrick Vieira’s departure.
Domènec Torrent has been with Guardiola since the manager began his career on the touchline, following him through many successes with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and now at Manchester City.
Enjoying dominance on a domestic and a European stage, the pair has won over 24 trophies together. The partnership has now ended, however both teams will hope the success will continue for both teams.
The move subject to gaining a United States work permit, Torrent said on the club’s website, “Though I have enjoyed a wonderful 11 years working alongside my colleague and close friend Pep Guardiola, it has always been my ambition to manage a team again and I really couldn’t have hoped for a better opportunity than at this football club,”
He will use his knowledge gained throughout his career with his fellow Spaniard, as the club seek to remain consistent in their league position in Major League Soccer and win the cup. New York City is currently second in the Eastern Division, only two points behind the leaders, Atlanta United.
It is unlikely that Torrent will take any of the City staff to New York with no announcement of the coaching team yet to be announced. He will rejoin with striker David Villa, who remains at the club and may look at joining the coaching team while continue to score goals.

NYCFC Sporting Director and former city midfielder, Claudio Reyna, confirmed: “Domènec is someone we know really well and have great confidence in as both a person and as a coach. He has a very clear idea of the style of play he wants – he’s a coach who will want to play the attacking and possession style of soccer that we want to continue to build upon.
The role was created after the Vieira left his role with City Football Group and has been appointed as manager of OGC Nice.
The Frenchman joined NYCFC after he excelled as the head coach of the English side’s youth team and has continued his impressive leadership in North America.
He steps outside the City Sporting Group for the first time, allowing him to shape his career and learn new experiences, with the possibility of becoming Manchester City manager in the near future.
Eyes in the boardroom will likely to keep a close eye on the progress of Ligue 1 team as Vieira looks to excel with the south of France side in a PSG dominated league.
