Jorginho deal close and Douglas Costa links reported in Italian media
Man City’s deal to transfer Jorginho has edged closer after Napoli agreed terms for his replacement, according to journalist Alfredo Pedulla.
The journalist claims the Italian club have agreed personal terms with Celta Vigo midfielder Stanislav Lobotka who is seen as a replacement for the Italian midfielder. Napoli are yet to officially bid for the midfielder but it is believed that they will have no problems meeting his release clause after securing funds from Jorginho’s transfer.
This should speed up Jorginho’s transfer to Man City with the deal already close according to Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis. Speaking to the Sun, Laurentiis said, “Everything is possible as we have a good relationship with Manchester City and their people but we must negotiate. We are still not in agreement over the price for the player but we’ll be near to the conclusion as they made an effort in the last few days.”
Jorginho has been identified by the City coaching staff as the player to bolster the midfield and provide cover for the aging Fernadinho. His addition will add both numbers and other qualities to the team.

Also coming from Italy, Manchester City has been linked with a €100m raid of Juventus for Brazilian winger Douglas Costa according to Sport Mediaset.
Douglas Costa recently completed a transfer from Bayern Munich after spending the season on loan in Turin. He contributed six goals and an impressive 14 assists last campaign. Juventus activated the buy clause of €40m included in the loan deal after those impressive numbers.
So for Man City to go in and offer €60m profit on the player doesn’t make any sense. This sounds like a story fabricated by a publication looking for a story, where there is none.
If City were indeed interested in the player which is highly doubtable given the Mahrez deal is close to completion, they would have started with a much lower bid. Not to mention Costa isn’t really worth €100 even in such an inflated market.
Guardiola had two targets heading into the window and I believe those will be the only additions if there are no key player departures.
