Group D:

All four Countries in the World Cup Group D have representatives who also played for Manchester City. Pictured above is Arni Arason from Iceland. I put his picture there to appease the Facebook follower who questioned ‘Who is Arason?’

Despite no one knowing, he still got a single vote but would not progress. Argentina had to be represented by Sergio Aguero who, of course, would win the vote easily. The question was would the representative of Nigeria or Croatia progress. So Iheanacho or Vedran Corluka?

Despite all the love he felt a couple of seasons ago, and the dismay over him leaving, he didn’t receive a single vote. Meanwhile Corluka pipped Arason and progressed.

So after those first groups decided, here is the first part of the Round of 16:

Danny Tiatto v Vedran Corluka

Ali Benarbia v Mario Balotelli

David Silva v Denis Law

Sergio Aguero v Nicolas Anelka
