Group A:

The World Cup Group A contains hosts Russia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Uruguay. For this group, of ex or current Manchester City players, that allowed Andrei Kanchelskis, who was loaned to City in 2001, and played 10 games for us.

It will come as no surprise that he didn’t get many votes in the poll considering who he spent most of his time at United. However, someone who also spent significant time at United did progress through the vote system.

Denis Law, who I put in as the Scottish representative, will be remembered for that back-heel against a relegated United side. The other two candidates were again put in as replacements, was Eyal Berkovic and Ali Benarbia.

The Algerian topped the Group in the Facebook poll, with Israeli, Berkovic, getting fewer votes than the ten game Kanchelskis. It certainly had me scratching my head, but in the end Benarbia and Law progressed, while Kanchelskis and Berkovic go home.
