Group G:

In Russia, this group would consist of England, Belgium, Tunisia and Panama. Instead of Panama I opted for the Georgian wizard, Georgi Kinkladze. For Tunisia it was the very famous Hatem Trabelsi.

Forgotten by some of the Facebook followers, he actually scored a goal against United, although we lost 3-1. With Micah Richards and Nedum Onouha vying with him for right back, Hatem was surplus to requirements.

Neither made the grade, with the Georgian wizard losing out to Tony Book, representing England. Captain Fantastic, Vincent Kompany, ran away with the group, finishing comfortably top. Of course there is no argument over Kompany’s selection, but I was questioned over Tony Book.

For me, you could certainly have Colin Bell, Francis Lee or a whole number of other Englishmen to have pulled on the sky blue. Tony was picked just because of what was won as player and manager, along with his continued service to the club.
