Medals Or No Medals We Are Still A Team:

With only 40 medals to be awarded, and a quota of games needed in order to get one, some were going to be missed. Kevin De Bruyne (left) received his medal while teenage sensation Phil Foden (center) didn’t.

I was glad to see that some of the elder statesman like Vincent Kompany and David Silva pull youngsters Phil Foden and Brahim Diaz to the party. Seemingly a little disappointed in not getting a medal, the two youngsters were encouraged to pose with the two, and the trophy.

Arms around these youngsters, who will certainly go on to win many honors in the future, was a nice touch at the time. You could see both lift their heads, Foden smiling and Brahim taking selfies with the trophy.

On the other end of the scale you had Eliaquim Mangala and Yaya Toure. Neither will be playing for the Blues next season you would imagine, but both included. Mangala, injured and on loan at Everton, made enough appearances to get a medal.

Yaya Toure, on the other hand, a City legend helped lift the trophy with Captain Vincent Kompany. The Captain had to pull rank on the Ivorian who seemed to sink away to the second row as the trophy was about to be presented.

It was an unexpected emotional display, which had previously seen the trophy take a tumble. Jumping all over Yaya while medals were still being handed out, the cameras cut away just as the trophy did a Stoke!

Vincent Kompany is the sort of Captain I like. He leads but also will make sure others get the limelight and enjoy the celebrations. I remember a few seasons ago when Micah Richards hadn’t enough games to get a medal. He was instructed by Kompany to come on up to the podium and put hands on the trophy.
