Awarding The Medals:

Of course, former players were there, but it went deeper than that. Bringing out the trophy, for the long walk around and to the podium were special guests. A member of Manchester City’s youth amputee side and a member of the clubs Down Syndrome team, beaming with pride, were followed by Richard Scudamore.

The FA executive chairman, Scudamore, was accompanied by a member of the City in the community project (pictured in the middle). Dealing with troubled young females, this unsung hero got to be front and center.

It would have been so easy to have ex players escort the trophy, and award the medals. This was just resonated with me, and shows that every member of the ‘team’ is valuable.
