They say “Once a blue, always a blue”. Yes players come and go. But once you’ve played in front of Blues fans, and they have taken you to their hearts, nothing will break that bond. We have seen it with many players in the past, and will continue to see it into the future.

Players from a few decades ago, the 1980’s, 90’s and early 2000’s could not have imagined today’s reality. That Manchester City would be, not only challenging for titles and trophies, but winning them.

They could not have imagined that this club would have attracted such talent, both on and off the field. They could not have imagined the style of football we played this season, as we swept almost all before us. The reality of the achievement set in when Manchester United and Liverpool, both English giants and ‘great’ clubs themselves, celebrated as if they’d won major trophies by beating us.

Yes Liverpool halted our progression in the Champions League, but only until September. United kept the Premier League trophy from us for eight days. But this is a look to our success as a club who have built what we now earn.

After the confirmation of the third Premier League trophy, and fifth top flight title for the Blues, I looked at social media. Looking for reaction to the win, I wasn’t disappointed.

Terry Phelan (1992-1995)

Terry was a player who reached out personally to me from a request I had sent him. Making his debut at home to Norwich on August 26th 1992, Phelan would make over 100 appearances for the Blues. A left back, who wouldn’t look out-of-place in todays side. And of the season, he said this:

"For me personally they showed what team spirit they have after a poor week in the CL and losing to M.Utd. To go to spurs and beat them comfortably on the day. Two trophies this season is not to bad at all. Pep just showed his passion .. strength as a manager to get the best out of his players week in and week out … the togetherness of the players was great. They finished the EPL miles ahead of the nearest other three teams … they played super football to entertain the city folk and folks all over . Very well done"

For other players I had to look on Twitter, to see who had posted something. Javi Garcia, Alvaro Negredo and Pablo Zabaleta, who were all at City for trophies. In order, here are their Tweets:

Finally the honorary Manc himself:

One ex City player had a double celebration. Not only did Manchester City win the Premier League once more, but another of his clubs also gained promotion this weekend:

Next: Champions 2017-18

Of course it wouldn’t be fair to not show the reaction of the influential players of the late 1990’s and early 2000’s for City. Both playing in the third tier of English football, Shaun Goater and Paul Dickov also Tweeted their congratulations.
