Pre Match Atmosphere:

The crowd was fantastic at the Etihad before the game. Considering the mountain Manchester City had to climb, the volume and belief was something special. The only disappointing thing from that aspect was the continuing booing of the Champions League National anthem.

As the camera panned down the two lineups, and referees, Antonio Miguel Mateu Lahoz winked at the camera. The Spanish referee has a reputation for trying to be front and center of the games he officiates, and it began here.

When Jesus scored with a little under two minutes gone, the stadium dared to believe. Only when the Liverpool goal went in  early in the second half did the atmosphere go flat. The majority of fans would end up leaving the stadium disappointed, but know we shall return.
