I have supported Manchester City for quite a number of years now. I remember the move to Eastlands, and the Kevin Keegan era. I remember the pre Abu Dhabi Group investment and the days of Stuart Pearce playing two goal keepers in one game.

I remember as far back as the Peter Swales era, which eventually led to a hostile takeover, and the promises of Francis Lee. Those promises failed to materialize and City fell into the third tier of English football. The Play-off final was certainly one to remember as all the emotions football can bring, were experienced in one sunny afternoon at Wembley. In that team for most of this period, although out through injury for the play-off games, was Jim Whitley.

Recently I got to talk with the Northern Irish International about those days at City. Which City legend did he just want to slap! Which City manager was a pioneer and who would he not want to meet in a dark alley?

You can listen to the full interview with Jim at the end of this article.
