Young Defenders Cruising:

I thought it would be a good test to see just how good Zinchenko and Aymeric Laporte are. In the end, Zinchenko’s reckless tackle aside, the two had quite an easy game. Zinchenko looks good with both feet, and able to easily get himself out of trouble.

His eagerness to go to ground though means he can just as easily get himself into trouble too. After getting a yellow card for that lunge in the first half, he then went to ground again early in the second half.

Laporte, on the other hand, wasn’t that noticeable. For a defender, that’s a good thing. It means you didn’t make too many mistakes and it means you didn’t have to make many last ditch tackles either.
