No Fernie, No Cry!

Injured in the Carabao Cup Final on Sunday, it was a concern to Blues fans. Fernandinho has been an ever-present for City in the League this season, and a very important player. In games when Fernandinho was missing, in domestic cup competitions earlier in the season, we looked poorer for it.

Yaya Toure just didn’t seem to have it anymore while others did an okay job if not totally convincing. This exact reason is why I was surprised City turned their attention to Mahrez in January, rather than Fred.

Ilkay Gundogan did well on Sunday, and again last night. Now, I will be the first to concede that last night wasn’t the toughest of tests. That said, it was still a Premier League side and we bossed them all over the park.
