Manchester City have had some fantastic club Captains over the years. One of the first I personally remember, was Andy Morrison. He was not the most glamorous captain we’d ever have, but he was exactly what we needed at that time.

Needing to find grit and fight in the third tier of English football, Andy Morrison joined for £80,000.  For less than most of our currents squad weekly wage, we had ourselves a strong leader. The boss at the time, Joe Royle, had even said that Andy Morrison had dragged our club, kicking and screaming, to the 1999 promotion.

That promotion led to another, and we were back in the Premier League. Memories will go back to that Paul Dickov goal or the Nicky Weaver penalty save. The truth is a lot of good we had in those darker days were thanks, in part, to strong leadership.

Of course you have to mention players like Keith Curle and Richard Dunne. Although neither would lift a trophy for the Blues, they will be remembered as City legends. So, who are the clubs most successful Captains?
