The good news for City fans is that the quadruple is still on. The bad news is that it may have come at the cost of not having Leroy Sane for the next few weeks. The German was the recipient of a horrific and cynical tackle towards the end of the first half.

The young winger continued for the final few minutes but did not come out for the second half. The foul on him and compatriot Ilkay Gundogan earlier on in the game caused the German National team official Twitter account to tweet, reminding Cardiff of a little tournament they are due to be involved in later.
