Defenders:

John Stones has returned to the line-up for the cup matches, and made high-profile mistakes. Both of those errors would eventually result in the only goal of the game for the opposition. It would be thanks to the attacking line to save the blushes of the Englishman.

Pep started him after the first error, and I expect him to start him again and I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets on the score sheet. Alongside him would be Nicolas Otamendi, a key factor missing for those two previous Stones errors.

Tha Argentinian has been a revelation at the back and up front for the Blues this season, going from a must sell to a must start in the space of twelve months.

On the right, it’s Kyle Walker to provide the pace in place of the less than impressive Danilo. On the left, hopefully, will be a fit Fabian Delph. Again, like Otamendi, here is a player who was deemed surplus to requirements throughout the most part of last season and now, suddenly this season, has forced himself into the starting lineup consistently.
