Pep Guardiola had said, after the Carabao Cup Semi Final, that Bristol City had come to the Etihad to play without fear. And, in doing so, he stated they were better than ‘most Premier League teams’ City had faced, and a credit to football.

But after their win over Manchester United, and even the fixture we had ourselves against Wolves from the same division, was it any surprise. Certainly when you look at the teams they compete with on a week to week basis, it’s a competitive league. Possibly, you could argue, the best second tier in European football, with multiple cup and league winners in the mix. Including European trophy winners with the likes of Aston Villa, Ipswich and Nottingham Forest.

In the end it took a Sergio Aguero last minute headed goal to win the game. Giving us a slender lead for the return fixture in two weeks, at Ashton Gate. So what were the talking points from that game?
