Manchester City: Kevin DeBruyne signs new contract
Manchester City have been a phenomenon so far this season. Pep Guardiola has bought well over the summer, with Kyle Walker and Ederson probably the pick of the bunch. That’s not to say that Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva are not making an impact, only that defensively we improved where we suffered last season.
Alongside the influx of new players, Pep has also improved some players who were already there. Superman Nicolas Otamendi, for example, has been sensational this season. With John Stones injured and Vincent Kompany in and out the team with his own injury issues, it has been a welcome surprise.
Raheem Sterling is arguably the most improved player under Pep. Lets not forget, though, he has also made our best players better. David Silva and Kevin DeBruyne have all stepped up their ‘A-game’ to another level. Silva has signed an extension to his contract already, so now it’s time to tie the Belgium International down as well.
Rumors are starting to circulate that Real Madrid are interested in our main man. The funny thing is that, with Madrid so far behind Barcelona in the league, and City going strong on all fronts, Madrid are no longer the better option of the two.
As far as the European competitions go, KDB would cup tied in the Champions League, so that’s a non starter. I have no concern about DeBruyne leaving the Etihad. Certainly a contract has been agreed in principle, including being paid out in Euros!
£200,000 a week with around £2 million in image rights. A decent signing on fee, along with rewards for winning Balon d’Or, and other personal and team bonuses. That is a pretty decent contract in itself, but the young DeBruynes have also become quite settled at the club.

A new baby, born in March 2016, and an exciting young squad with a project which will continue to grow long after this season, is enough to keep the 26-year-old motivated enough at the Blues.
In a recent City TV interview, Kevin was asked of his future. He did reiterate his desire to stay, and his happiness with the club and its trajectory. He did however say that things change quickly in the world of football, which is why he needs to put pen to paper sooner rather than later.
