Manchester City increased their lead at the top of the table Saturday night with a 4-0 win over Bournemouth. With Manchester United dropping points in the late game, thanks to a late strike from Harry Maguire.
For Pep Guardiola it was a game full of positives. The return of Vincent Kompany and David Silva to the line-up clearly a plus. Vincent returning from his latest injury set back, while David came back after time away for personal reasons.
Along with those positives were Sergio Aguero getting back on the score-sheet and Danilo opening his account in the sky blue shirt. So how did our boys do against Bournemouth individually?
Ederson – 6.
Lower rating than you might expect for a couple of reasons. Firstly, he wasn’t really tested by Eddie Howes men. With only five shots total and just one of those being on target, it’s hard to give him a high rating. That said, his distribution was top class again.
Walker – 7.
Showed lots of energy running the wing. Put in a couple of decent crosses and chip balls.
Otamendi – 7.
Had a powerful shot from around 30 yards out which had the keeper scrambling. Looks good in every game and this was no exception. The guy is growing in his role I feel.
Kompany – 6.
Nice game to come back to. At home against a side who didn’t really push. Certainly was never in danger of getting turned like he did against Vardy a few weeks back. defensively solid and played a few good forward balls. Forgot he was playing at one point, which I guess for a defender is good.
Delph – 6.
Had a comfortable day at the office. Again, wasn’t really tested but going forward he showed some skills.
Fernandinho – 7.
Was again solid as we’d expect to see. Looked as if he was playing a little higher up the pitch, which was due to how far back the Cherries were sitting back.
Sliva – 8.
Back from his time off and looked hungry. Not sure what the reasons were for him being off, but it certainly didn’t seem to be on his mind during the game. His touch was good as was his link up play
DeBruyne – 8.
Did well for the team without being too amazing in truth. Did well to look uninterested in the ball through to Sterling when offside. Does that class as an assist?
Sterling -8.
Who is loving his football now? Raheem is! 16th goal of the season, and level with Sergio for League strikes. Full of confidence and a different player from 12 months ago.
Sane – 7.
Quiet game for the German. Loose touches and running the ball off the field at times. We all have off days. Without actually contributing directly to goals he did do s stellar job keeping the width.
Aguero – 9.
The Argentinian showed today that he still has something to give to the side. Talk of Gabby Jesus taking his spot may be slightly premature. Manchester City record goal-scorer I have no doubt he will move on at some point. Right now it will be his decision though.
Bernardo (sub 67) – 7.
Came on, provided an assist. Looking more and more like the player we’d hoped he’d be.
Gundogan (sub 74) – 6.
Quiet game for him although he did get forward quite a bit. Essentially went about his business in his usual quiet way.
Danilo (sub 81) – 7.
On as a winger essentially. Very little to do in the defensive third and got on the score-sheet. Was a great strike but the keeper would certainly be beating himself up over this goal in particular. Getting beat at your near post is never a fun one to explain.
