The rivalry has followed on from Spain. It seemed, this season at least, that maybe the volatility had calmed somewhat from the Madrid/Barca days. This week, however, Mourinhos comments on City players has blown all hope out of the water that could last.

And you can understand why the Reds boss is now becoming desperate for any kind of mental advantage.

Slipping further and further behind the leaders he now has to win against a Manager who dominates him on the field.

In sixteen meetings, Pep has only lost three times. He has outscored Mourinho 26-16 (which could be todays actual result if both sides are open) and a 5-0 thumping back in 2010.

That was the biggest defeat inflicted in an El Clasico, so hopefully Pep can better the 6-1 today? Would that make Pep the Special one?
