Five months or so on from offering £60 million plus, it is reported Pep will go again for Sanchez. For me he would be a good addition, but we need him less now than we did in the summer.

Part of that has to do with the emergance of Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling on the wings. It was Raheem, of course, who was linked by Arsenal in the summer.

It seems the Arsenal boss was looking for someone ‘who dives well’ since the departure of Robert Pires. He had hoped Theo would be able to do that job, and he did show much promise early on.

In all seriousness though, it is Manchester City who are in an even stronger position going into the January window, more than the summer. That means an initial offer, significantly less than a few months ago, doesn’t need to be improved if rejected. In the summer we will get him for free, if we still want or need him.

For me, and with Arsene’s recent comments, I would offer the initial bid. If that’s denied, offer a penny more.
