After a summer of offers and flirtations, Jonny Evans ended up staying at West Brom. And I’m ok with that. Watching him closely this season after becoming a Man City target I’ve seen plenty not to like.

While his positioning and physicality are solid he’s lazy at times with his challenges and even with his size isn’t a huge threat in the air. Manchester City still needs at least a replacement for Mangala on the bench and at best a long-term replacement for Otamendi and Kompany but I’m glad it won’t be Evans. Txiki Begiristain would be wise to move on and look elsewhere in January and beyond.
