Like Raheem, this English International has grown under Pep. Scored the goal to give City the lead but did so much more than that.

Defensively he was, as he has been in most games, assured. The hesitation from last season seems to have gone from his game, for now at least.

An example of that came facing his own goal in the second half. Maybe not sure if Ederson would come and collect in time, or maybe it was the noise of the crowd, either way he made the ‘safety first’ decision.

I think that in Stones we not only see a future Manchester City captain, but also for England too.
