After the first eight games in the English top flight, Manchester City have 29 goals. You have to go back to Everton’s start to the 1894-95 season for better. Their first eight games saw 30 goals scored, although they had conceded 7! Their next game was a 4-3 defeat and they finished second, so there.

Sergio Aguero could very well have become City’s all-time top scorer had he been on the pitch today. No doubt that record will go sooner rather than later, but currently, we wait.

Other records in the Premiership would be highest amount of goals scored. Currently held by Chelsea with 103 back in the 2009-10 season. At our current strike rate of 3.6 goals every league game, we are in line for around 138.

Maybe best goal difference could be another record to go. Currently, also held by Chelsea, at 71 in that same season. Again, on current form, City are on course to smash that too.

Most points in a EPL season? 95, again by Chelsea in 2004-05. Again, with our form, it could potentially be another one we look at taking.

Of course the main target is to win the title, whether it be by a point or multiple, doesn’t matter in the end. But it’s fun to dream.
