Grade: B

Well, this is a tough one to grade.

When Danilo first joined the team, there were some eyebrows raised. Sure, the depth is nice. But at what price? €30m? It seemed excessive.

His first game performance did not help. Playing at left wingback, the Brazilian offered not much offensively. People began to label him bust after one game. He turned it around and followed that with two solid performances, including an assist against Bournemouth.

The most important part is not how he played; rather, it is that he played. Danilo was brought in to be a cover for Walker and Benjamin Mendy. Mendy was injured first two games, and Walker got sent off in the second game. Without Danilo, City would have been in trouble.

While Danilo is important, the price tag is still hard to justify. €30m for a backup player is a bit too much.
