Grade: A

It’s not every transfer window that you land the starting goalie for the next decade. However, Manchester City has exactly done that. Signing the young Brazilian goalie from Benfica for £36m, City ensured they got their goalie of the future – and now.

Last season, there was no one that City could put in between the sticks with confidence. The Claudio Bravo experiment was called off when he could not use his hands to save shots. Willy Caballero was solid, but nothing spectacular. Every game was a question mark.

Now, Manchester City has a clear No. 1. Bravo is still there and he will get a run out in cup games, but the Brazilian established himself as the first choice keeper for now, and perhaps for a long time. They could not have asked more than that.

He would have received the perfect grade had he been tested in a more difficult league. While Portuguese League is an exceptional league, it is hard to gauge how a player from there will make a jump to the Premier League. It is nothing but smooth sailing for now.
