Manchester City have drafted a number of quality players in positions they felt that they lacked key personnel in last season and with a relatively straightforward Champions League draw, the question on every Manchester City fan is can Manchester City finally win the Champions League?
Manchester City have the ideal manager in Pep Guardiola to lead them to the elusive Champions League trophy, he has experience in winning it as a manager and as a player at Barcelona. While his Barcelona team was arguably the greatest team in recent history backed by the genius of Messi, Iniesta, and Xavi. However, the current Manchester City team have players of similar calibre such as Aguero and David Silva. an argument could be made that despite using so much money to sign players, Pep Guardiola lacks world-class players, Kyle Walker is the best right-back in the Premier League but definitely not the best in the world and Bernardo Silva will need time to find his feet at Manchester City to become the world’s best, the potential is there but time is not for Guardiola needs his new signings to magical if he is to salvage his reputation as an elite coach. His United counterpart Jose Mourinho has shown his credibility as a trophy winner but winning the Community Shield, Europa League and League Cup. Pep will want to show even it up a little by winning the Champions League.

Going back to the point that Manchester City lack a world-class player/players, it is hard to see Manchester City signing someone belonging that bracket in this season with Manchester City’s move for Messi premature and with Cristiano Ronaldo favouring a return to Manchester United if things indeed go sour for him at Real Madrid, it looks rather bleak for Manchester City in the area. Perhaps, they try to hijack PSG’s move for Kylian Mbappe but the move would be risky because Mbappe is young and he could be a one season wonder.
The fixture list is starting to look congested for Manchester City with the team playing in the Premier League, Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Champions League, they definitely along with their fellow Premier League teams are at a disadvantage with teams in Spain and Germany playing in the one cup competition and the PSG could probably send their reserve team and get a win in the early stages of the cup competitions in France. Injuries and suspensions could prove a headache for Pep Guardiola and put a spanner in the works for Manchester City Champions league conquest. The teams in the group stage aren’t technically inferior with Napoli playing a type of football similar to Liverpool, so this weeks game against Liverpool could be an indication of how Manchester City will deal with Napoli, Shakhtar Donetsk will be tricky opponents while Feyenoord are the Dutch league champions and therefore shouldn’t be underestimated.
