Analysis

When Eliaquim Mangala first joined Man City, it was just what the team needed. Desperate to find Kompany’s partner, City splashed out £42m for the Frenchman. His physicality and athleticism were thought to be perfect for Premier League. After his first season where he made 25 appearances under Pellegrini, he was immediately sent out on loan to Valencia by Pep Guardiola. His lack of confidence on the ball and discipline were pointed as his flaws.

At Valencia, Mangala had a bit of resurgence. However, the La Liga side simply could not afford to splurge the cash for the centre-back. Instead, Olympique Lyonnais is rumored to be ready to spend £18m on him.

Verdict: SELL

Mangala is sure to be gone. He does not fit the typical mold of Pep Guardiola’s centre-back. Expect him to move to either France or another English side
