Transfer Target Evaluation — Part 2 of 8 — Left-Back

This is Part 2 of my 8 part series featuring the most recent Manchester City transfer target profiles for each individual position. This time around I will be analyzing and rating the left full-back position based on quality, and fit. You can read Part 1 here.

Arguably, the full-back position is the area in need of immediate reinforcements. In fact, I’d argue the left-back position is our greatest need. Let’s look at our depth at left-back — we’ve got an aging and slow Kolarov and Gael Clichy who can barely defend at this point and offers nothing going forward. Who else do we have after that? Well, no one…. Having failed to adequately provide reinforcements at the full-back position, management will surely give us 2-3 new fullbacks (one can only pray).

With that being said, who will replace Clichy and Kolarov next season? Read below and I offer numerous solutions and assess them based on overall quality and fit within the squad.
