The Manchester City academy has seen major improvements over the last five years, where the club is now developing more talent than can break through.
It is simply the path towards becoming the global power in all aspects of the game. As the City Group and the Manchester City Academy program continues to grow, talented players will be developed, but eventually sold.
There will never be enough room for those players to make the first team. However, they could support one of the fellow City Group franchises, or turn a profit for the organization. Bismark Adjei-Boateng caught the eye of Man City years ago, but his run with the organization is over – or did it ever begin?
Too often now the loan system is used to help major clubs buy up young talent, send them across Europe and then later decide to use or sell off. If the player is mentally strong, then regardless what happens with the parent club they will use that experience to better their career.
Bismark Adjei-Boateng was signed by Manchester City in 2012 at the age of 18. From Ghana, the club spotted him through the Right to Dream Academy, and he spent the next year in the City academy setup.
Once signed to a senior contract he was loaned to Strømsgodset Toppfotball in the Norwegian Tippeligaen. There Bismark would spend the next four years, making 85 appearances and scoring 16 goals – as a midfielder.
In January though, City decided his time was up, and they agreed to a full sale to the Colorado Rapids in MLS. Bypassing a loan to NYCFC, Boateng will have the chance to prove his value with the defensively minded Rapids.

Considering he won a title while in Norway, it is surprising the group didn’t want to try him with another club before selling. Thus is the way of modern day football though. Bismark Adjei-Boateng on the books for Manchester City since 2012, and zero senior appearances with the club.
