First Centerback – Nicolas Otamendi

Out of the CB’s available, I have to go with Otamendi based on his repetition this season. Due to Vincent Kompany‘s injury problems this season, Otamendi has had to step up as the #1 defender. He has some iffy moments, but overall there is more positives than negatives. He always pressures the opposing forward on aerial balls, he is a threat on corners and free kicks, and he has been durable this season. I’m not sure if he will be a long-term option under Pep but he is the first option for this line-up.
