Man City Will Spend Heavily on Defense During the 2017 Summer

Stop me if you have heard this before, Manchester City’s defenders are old. The current first team defenders at Man City are as follows, Aleksander Kolarov, Gael Clichy, John Stones, Vincent Kompany, Nicolas Otamendi, Tosin Adarabioyo, Pablo Zabaleta, and Bacary Sagna. Out on loan are Angelino, Pablo Maffeo, Jason Denayer, and Eliaquim Mangala. Out of that group perhaps you can count on Otamendi and Stones to provide solid defense in 2017.

City haven’t spent on fullbacks in years and 2017 will break that streak. Whether it’s players like Alex Sandro or David Alaba, City will be linked with every possible available fullback under the sun. Expect Pep and his team to pull the trigger on more than a few in the summer.
