Steady as they come, Mascherano’s a great passer, got a fantastic work ethic and superb leadership skills. He’s Argentina’s best player not on the attacking side of the pitch. Doubling as a midfielder, he was instrumental in his country’s run to the 2014 World Cup. Sorry, Nicholas Otamendi, the choice is obvious.
