Ilkay Gundogan

Fellow German international Ilkay Gundogan was the first arrival at Manchester City this summer. A supremely talented deep-lying playmaker, the German will be the player to link attack and defence with his superb passing range.

A replacement for the ageing Yaya Toure, Gundogan arrived in a £20 million from Borussia Dortmund.

Because of injury, Gundogan will have to wait for his debut. However City have secured a bargain-price for one of Europe’s most naturally gifted midfielders.
