Nicolas Otamendi

Last night’s game was a nice welcome back to competitive club football for Nico Otamendi. He enjoyed lots of possession, as well as his centre back partner, and with this possession formed productive build up play from the back. Not only this, Otamendi’s defensive display was also very assured. With the exception of a few rash challenges and incidences of ‘jumping in’, the Argentina international proved he could be one of the main contenders for the centre half space left vacant by injured Vincent Kompany.
