Last night saw the first Man City Champions League challenge presented to Pep Guardiola. The performance was a convincing one, and probably put a lot of City fans’ minds at rest after Saturday’s somewhat disjointed performance against Sunderland. Pep’s philosophy seems to be taking shape within the City ranks and it is fantastic to watch. Some of the interplay between City’s front five was immaculate at some points in the game and the scoreline showed when City slotted five unanswered goals past the Steaua keeper, who happened to be their Man of the Match.
We take a look at City’s top performers and who scored what. There were a few sevens and eighths, and two standout performers from last night’s game against Steaua Bucharest.
Willy Caballero
Solid performance – not much to challenge him in the game however when called upon he did the job. His selection has come under scrutiny, pushing Joe Hart out of the number one spot, however so far he has done nothing to suggest Pep has made the wrong decision. His distribution was also much better than that of Saturday’s game against Sunderland.
