Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has expressed his desire to follow in the footsteps of his compatriot Thierry Henry, and see out his playing days across the Atlantic in the American Major League Soccer, as he loves the lifestyle of the country.

The former French international signed a new five-year extension with the Etihad Stadium outfit last summer, committing his future to the club until 2019. Brought by City in the summer of 2011 for a fee believed to be in the region of 25 million pounds, Nasri has gone on to establish himself as a mainstay in the Citizens’ first team fold with his regular spurts of fine form and nack of scoring crucial goals.

He hinted at a return to his former club Marseille, but was quick to rule out a return to the Stade Velodrome. Although, when his deal with City eventually expires, the former Arsenal midfielder wishes to see out his playing days in the United States. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Nasri said:

"I would like to play MLS, not go back to France. Maybe I would go back to Marseille but it would be too difficult – maybe impossible.I would like the MLS, like Thierry Henry. I love the lifestyle in the U.S. and everything about it.”"

Nasri began playing at Marseille’s academy at the age of ten, and would go on to make over 150 appearances for the first-team before moving to Arsenal and eventually Manchester City.

The MLS’s profile is set to skyrocket with the initiation of the new season, with stars like Frank Lampard, David Villa, Steven Gerrard, Sebastian Giovinco and Kaka  set to take the field for New York City FC , LA Galaxy, Toronto City FC and Orlando City FC respectively.

With such superstars set to grace the field, the status of the game is set to escalate to insurmountable heights in the States and with Nasri expressing a desire to move there eventually too, you get a feeling that the MLS is set for greatness in the years to come with more and more players talking about the possibilities of playing in it.
