Manchester City’s Bosnian striker has been ruled out for up to three weeks according to the latest Edin Dzeko injury update.
The former Wolfsburg forward managed only four minutes against Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road at the weekend, before having to pull up with a suspected calf injury, ahead of two important international matches for his country.
"“I am extremely disappointed with the news that I will miss this match [against Israel] but I have faith in my team-mates and believe that they have it in them to get a result,” said Dzeko after hearing the report on the injury."
Whilst Dzeko hasn’t been playing anything like he is capable of doing lately for City, his injury will be a big issue for club manager Manuel Pellegrini as he only has two fit strikers in Sergio Aguero and Stevan Jovetic. With both on international duty, it’s possible that either or both could also come back from the break injured, causing major headaches for the club.
Regardless of any further injuries, it means Dzeko may well miss out on the Swansea, Bayern Munich, Southampton and Sunderland matches, and adds to City’s injury list which already features David Silva, Vincent Kompany and Aleksander Kolarov
