Manchester City recently announced that Sergio Aguero will be moving on later in the summer, after more than a decade with the Sky Blues.

Since joining up with the Cityzens in 2011, the Argentinian forward has amassed a tally of 257 goals in 384 appearances for the club, a truly staggering figure. While it won’t be easy to replace his legacy, City will honour their all time-highest goal-scorer by erecting his statue outside their stadium.
While Aguero may be edging towards the end of his career, he still has a lot to offer, and many top European sides have been rumoured to be pushing for his signature. Here, we will try and rank the most likely destination for Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero.
1) Barcelona
First and foremost, the eternal romance, should Barcelona be able to pull this off, not only would they get their hands on a world-class forward, but they will also boost their chances of retaining Lionel Messi, who would be more than happy to lineup alongside his long-time friend and compatriot.

Recently elected president Joan Laporta has already stated that he’d go to any length to extend Lionel Messi’s contract, and this might just be the way to do it. Moreover, the fact that Aguero will be a free-agent would be another attractive proposition.

2) Paris Saint-Germain
If the move to Barcelona does not materialize then there’s a high chance that Aguero could possibly jet-off to France, where his compatriots Angel di Maria, Mauro Icardi, and manager Mauricio Pochettino would be waiting for him with open arms.
While Everton loanee Moise Kean has really impressed during his stint at the Parc des Princes, a striker of Aguero’s pedigree and experience would be too good to turn down, that too a free agent.
Moreover, as Kylian Mbappe continues to flirt with Real Madrid, signing the Manchester City forward would mean PSG will have a ready-made replacement for the short-term at least.
3) Juventus
The reigning Serie-A champs have been over-reliant on Cristiano Ronaldo to deliver the goals and therefore the signing of Sergio Aguero would no doubt boost Juventus’ attacking arsenal.

The team is still under transition, and with Cristiano getting no younger anytime soon, signing another forward on the wrong side of his 30s could be a risk, although Alvaro Morata does have a habit of disappearing in games sometimes, and that means Juventus could really use another helping hand, and frankly the Old Lady just loves to sign free agents don’t they?
4) Atletico Madrid
While this one may be a long shot, there are quite the chances that we may get to see a reunion of Aguero with Los Rojiblancos. Firstly, in recent years, Simeone has developed a taste for this, with both Fernando Torres and Diego Simeone returning for a second coming.
Moreover, Aguero represents a cost-effective solution to partner either Luis Suarez, Joao Felix, and/or Moussa Dembele should Atletico decide to buy him permanently.
Overall, there’s a lot of sentiments involved in this one, but we can certainly see this happening if all the stars aligned in a particular manner.

5) Independiente
Having left his boyhood club early, spending most of his playing career in Europe, the 32-year-old has already spoken of his desire to return back home one day, and honestly, it would be one hell of a trip down the memory lane.
The only roadblock here is that we feel it’s still very early days for Aguero to move to the far west, given the old-warhorse still has a lot to offer, and surely he can spend another couple of years in Europe, before hanging up his boots back in Argentina.
