There are several reasons why the media would try and have you believe that City are in crisis. We are not in crisis, nor are we even close. We are too well run and organised for that – if you want to look at comedy and clowns then best look at that circus in Salford.

We have reached a point where City news sells papers and generates clicks on websites. We should all be grateful for that because it brings the things we have been wanting for our club for as long as I can remember.

In fact if you want to tap into the readership from the Liverpool and United fans then the best way to do that is give your news a negative spin. Every fan reads that to make sure it confirms their already inherent biases.

So City news comes from everywhere but if it can be slightly dismissive or undermining, focuses on alleged racism or some perceived slight then it turns into click bait gold.

So as City fans we just have to accept that bad news sells and City bad news pleases everyone. We need to ignore that and read it only to find out and be aware what our enemies are thinking! Our positive news stories about our beloved club will come from a small group of journalists and from fan sites (like this one) – so embrace this and don’t waste energy railing against it.

City may well struggle to put together the form of recent seasons but we will be in the fight till the end and as fans that is all we can ask for. I said at the outset of the season I thought the title would be won by a good 10 points less than last season. Nothing has changed my mind about that, so strap yourselves in and enjoy the ride.
