Three Things We Learnt From Watching Manchester City beat Fulham
By David Crook
Missing Sergio?
Aguero has had so many good seasons and great moments with Manchester City that it almost seems churlish to claim the current one may be the best yet. Yet this one has been marked by a different kind of display than we have been used to in recent years. There have been flashes of insanely skillful and quick finishing but it has been more about work rate than just the goals.
Aguero has faced down the challenge of the young Brazilian Gabriel Jesus and all but retired from International Football. Leaving him to concentrate upon the two things he seems to love most – supermodels and scoring goals for City. He has been our talismanic lynchpin in our claim for domination since 2011 -a truly global star in an era where many are seeking their 15 minutes of fame.
We are approaching the run in for what could be the greatest season of all time and we all know how in games the smallest margins and advantages can seal results. So it was with abject horror that City fans watched as Aguero was withdrawn on 57 minutes against Fulham with what looked to be a groin injury.
After the match Guardiola suggested the substitution was just precautionary but worries began to coagulate when Aguero failed to feature in the post match training on Sunday. It seems likely there will be an announcement today regarding the prognosis or perhaps tomorrow when Guardiola faces the press in preparation for Cardiff.
As City fans we like to have something to worry about and this may well be the thing which will occupy us for a few weeks. But we tend to like to do things the hard way so let us just hope this does not mean we have to cement a quadruple without our talismanic striker!
