Manchester City: Lessons from derby day defeat
Party Already Started:
At half time the feeling was that Manchester City would be crowned Champions. The opening 45 minutes saw United not have a single shot. Not just a single shot on target, a single shot! The Manchester United player with most touches was David DeGea and City were 2-0 up.
Within ten minutes of the restart, scores were level and the whole side looked deflated. From that point on you could tell that there would only be one side scoring, and that they did to spoil the party.
It would have taken some of the Champions League pain away, but it wasn’t to be. Pep came out afterwards to apologise to fans, stating that we will still win the trophy. Losing against United from a winning, and dominant, position leaves a bad taste in the mouth though.
Had City been 3-0 down at the half and fought back to the 3-2 score line, you could leave the Stadium disappointed but hopeful. As it was you just feel it was a real chance wasted.
