After coming off with a calf injury in the Manchester Derby back in late April, Bravo has recuperated well enough to have the last match for Chile in the Confederations Cup this month.

Following two starts by Johnny Herrera against Germany and Cameroon, Bravo was selected against Australia this past weekend and didn’t have too much to do. Having made two saves Bravo wasn’t called into action much until Australia broke through Chile’s back line with a dangerous cross. To be fair, Chile defended poorly with the ball coming to Rodriguez much too easily. He comfortably lashed a chip over the falling Bravo to tie the game 1-1.

This seems like the Bravo we had this past season. Having distributed fairly well and not being called out too many times, Bravo only let in one out of three shots, not a great rate.

What the stats don’t show are the fantastic saves and moments Bravo rushed out of his area to dispossess his opponents. In the 26th minute, Bravo made a crucial save that Chile’s Twitter dubbed as “EXTRAORDINARIO!” Hopefully, Bravo can carry some confidence coming off of these final games into the next season with City.

I’ve stated numerous times that Bravo has been met with harsh criticism far too often. When this happens it spreads like wildfire, and this was true in Russia as well as Bravo was met with ridicule and boos from the stands. Nonetheless, Bravo is a strong character and has shrugged off the criticism, just looking forward to the next game against Portugal.
