Joe Hart

Season long loan at Torino has ended

This is a tough situation to handle for me. I absolutely admire Joe Hart for who he is and what he has done for this club. Unfortunately, our manager doesn’t think he can develop into a goalkeeper in his system. Moreover, this whole situation with Guardiola has seemed to have had a bad effect on him as his confidence has dropped and has had numerous bad games for Torino and even at the international stage.

According to recent reports, Joe Hart won’t be returning to Torino (City Watch). This doesn’t come too shocking, but it appears that the Serie A team does not want him back either. He came up big for them at times but was also at times their biggest problem. As you can see from this Squawka comparison matrix, Hart really wasn’t better than Claudio Bravo this season, looking at these three key keeper statistics.

So, Hart was once a PL great, but it appears that he has begun to slowly decline. Will he return to his old form? Only time will tell.

With all this being said, I would still like to see Hart try and play under Pep Guardiola and I think he would be a solid back-up and mentor to a young keeper like Ederson. Having two solid goalkeepers isn’t as important as other positions on the pitch, but it can still be crucial. Especially for a team that is vying for a Champions League title.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like this will be the case. Hart looks set to leave on loan or to sign for another club, particularly one in the Premier League. In fact, recent reports have him linked with a move to the Hammers (MEN). By the end of the summer, we may just have to part ways with Joe Hart.
