Manchester City simply look destined to win the Premier League after another emphatic result, this time a 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola’s men were dominant from the start to claim their 16th straight victory in all competitions to extend their record-breaking run.

More from Game Review

City took the lead through a Rodri penalty and never looked back as İlkay Gündoğan continued his dizzying run of goalscoring form with yet another brace. At 11 goals for the season, he is now approaching Premier League Golden Boot contention if he can maintain this electric run of form, as he is currently six goals behind leader Mohamed Salah.

With Liverpool losing against Leicester City, the Reds are now 13 points off the top and have played a game more than the Citizens, which should all but officially end any hope they had of contending. The focus will now turn to rivals Man United, over whom City possess an eight-point edge level on games played.

Despite an incredibly difficult February run of games, City have managed to keep their hot form going with massive results against Liverpool and Tottenham. Games against Everton, Arsenal, and Man United will still be critical moving forward, but if the team keeps this form up, there is no reason to believe that City cannot shut the door on this title race fairly quickly.

The contrast from the start of the season could not be more evident, and Pep Guardiola has built a team good enough to rival the great sides of 2017-19. This time, however, he has built it upon the foundation of an incredible defense and goalscoring contributions from all over the park, and it is working to tremendous effect.
